We received an email from the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore yesterday, telling us that the Patents (Amendment) Act 2012 will have a commencement date of 14 February 2014.

This means that the provisions of the amended Singapore Patents Act will apply to:

  • Singapore patent applications filed on or after 14 February 2014

  • Divisional applications whose date of actual filing (not the parent filing date) is on or after 14 February 2014

  • International Patent Applications entering the national phase in Singapore on or after 14 February 2014
