Commencement of the Amended Singapore Patents Act
TL;DR
The amendments to the Singapore Patents Act will come into force on 14 February 2014. On the same day, amended Patents Rules operate.
The Minister of Law yesterday made the following Notification to implement the amendments to the Patents Act of Singapore, passed by Parliament in July 2012:
The Notification declares that Sections 2(a), (c), (e), (f) and (g) and 3 to 28 of the Patents (Amendment) Act 2012 will come into operation on 14 February 2014.

Amendments to the Singapore Patent Rules and Singapore Patent Agent Rules
The Law Minister also made the two following Rules to deal with changes to practice and registration of patent agents:
- Patents Act - Patents (Amendment) Rules 2014 (S 81 of 2014)
- Patents Act - Patents (Patent Agents) (Amendment) Rules 2014 (S 80 of 2014)
