Chong-Yee Khoo will give a talk on “Patent Term Extensions (PTEs) for Pharmaceutical Products in South East Asia” as part of the “Understanding SPCs in Different Countries” webinar series, organised by the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys of the United Kingdom.
Chong-Yee will undertake a survey of the patent laws in various South East Asian Countries, including ASEAN territories: Brunei, Cambodia, East Timor, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. He will discuss whether it is possible to obtain extensions of the term of a patent covering a pharmaceutical or biologic, where there had been a delay in obtaining regulatory approval.
The webinar will be held on 2 September 2024 at 1230 hours BST.

We are pleased to announce that Dr Khoo Chong Yee is now an ISTMA Registered Trade Mark Agent.

The Institute of Singapore Trade Mark Agents (ISTMA) maintains a “Register of Trade Mark Agents”, comprising members of the Institute. Provided they maintain their membership of the Institute, ISTMA members may use the designation of “ISTMA Registered Trade Mark Agent”.
ISTMA members are required to continue to practice trade mark agency and maintain their continuing professional education in trade mark matters. They are also required to comply with a Code of Conduct issued by ISTMA.
As well as practising trade mark law, Dr Khoo is also a European Patent Attorney and a Chartered (UK) Patent Attorney, as well as a Registered Singapore Patent Agent.
Chong-Yee Khoo will give a talk on patent enablement in Singapore at a webinar on 22 July 2024. He will give an overview of the law and practice regarding patent enablement and sufficiency in Singapore, and will focus on the Singapore Court of Appeal judgement on IIa Technologies Pte Ltd v Element Six Technologies Ltd.
The webinar is jointly organised by The Association of Singapore Patent Attorneys (ASPA) and the Capital Intellectual Property Services Association (Beijing, China).
During the webinar, speakers from the two professional organisations will talk on patent prosecution and patent litigation in their respective jurisdictions.
